ATL: Let's Get Lit w/ Home Less in Dallas
All the details you need for our live show at the Plaza Theatre on August 24th
As you probably know, I'm a writer at Mailchimp. Actually, maybe you don’t. But I am. I be typing all types of stuff all the time for all types of stuff. But, in my spare time, I get to type stuff for the type of folk that read the type of stuff I type.
Whoa, too much coffee. Let me slow down and not bury the lede…
On Thursday August 24th, we’re about to get lit. Excuse me… Get Lit!
It’s an in-house reading series Mailchimp started back in 2017, that was pretty awesome. But then the pandemic came, and like pretty much everything else, it was forced to take a step back. Years later, here we are, bringing that old thing back (hopefully) just as good as when it started.
Myself, and fellow writer/co-worker Austin L. Ray, we’ll be at the Plaza Theater off Ponce digging into our latest publishings: Home Less in Dallas and How I’d Fix Atlanta, respectively.
If you don’t know Austin, I can’t wait for you to meet him. He’s funny, talented, and thoughtful, but most importantly, he puts on for our city, and the dope folks in it. You should check out his newsletter when you get a moment.
So yes, I hope that’s enough to make you want to come out. If not, did I mention that there will be other contributors from both books there too? As well as food, drinks, and signed copies for the first 100 or so folks that attend? (also, it’s FREE to everyone…)
For Lack of a Wetter Bird, let’s Get Lit(erature)!
As always, for my peeps not in ATL, we have our HID Atlanta Unhoused Fundraiser in partnership with Hope 4 Humanity that you can contribute to and support from afar if you’d like 🙏🏽. 100% of donations go to people in ATL looking for a little help to stay on their feet.
P.S. Last issue, we talked about the little things in life that make us feel better about humanity. I opened up the floor for responses from y’all, and here are some of my favorite replies:
Seeing people dress on-theme for events (or for their birthday)
When my friend buys the first round at the bar
Unexpected recognition at work
Strangers complimenting strangers
Unsolicited advice from older married couples
Watching people who are usually super busy “let their hair down” and have fun
