Alright, so as some of you long-time readers know, I write a poem for Eli every year on his birthday. Two years ago, we gave him a “High Five”. 4 years ago? The “Rule of Thirds”. There was “22 Twos” AND “44 Fours” along the way as well. Well, today, he’s “LUCKY SEVEN” 👦🏽 👦🏽 👦🏽 👦🏽 👦🏽 👦🏽 👦🏽
And thanks to EVERYONE who’s asked what they can get him this year. Honestly he’s got every book, LEGO set, Braves hat, and cupcake he could ever want.
This year, how about we donate to his custodial fund for college?
Say it with me, y’all: HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELI!
Alright, seven stanzas, with seven words in each line 👀 📝
“Lucky Seven”
Ladybugs are fly, and horseshoes come close
And sometimes bluebirds land on your nose
3 day weekends, and nine live cats
Now tell me what’s luckier than that?
Believe in magic? Then let’s all scream
That rabbit there ain’t what it seems
Eli could yank it out that hat
Now tell me what’s luckier than that?
Wishbones pulled up and split right apart
Shooting Stars shoot out in galaxies afar
And up and disappear just like that
Now tell me what’s luckier than that
One’s a moron, and two’s a joke.
3, 4, 5, get ready to croak!
6’s a trip… but 7’s LIKE THAT.
Now tell me what’s luckier than that?
A rabbit’s foot? Got nothing on you
4 leaf clovers don’t make you cool
I’m thankful my son ain’t no brat
Now tell me what’s luckier than that?
Dream catchers are cute; I won’t lie
And out from cocoons bloom Butterflies!
Life is good, your fortune is fat
Now tell me what’s luckier than that?
Birthday boy, give me some skin!
Slap me five, kid, one more ‘gain
Wherever you’ll go, that’s where I’m at
Now tell me what’s luckier than that?
For Lack of a Wetter Bird, Happy 7th birthday Eli!
